Background
I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. As an engineering student, I gained insight into the design process and developed strong problem-solving abilities. After graduating, I worked for 2 years as a Reliability Engineer at ConocoPhillips in Sweeny, Texas. One of my projects involved implementing visual indicators on equipment around the refinery so that equipment operators could easily tell when there was a problem - my first foray into UX design.
In completing the M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction program at the Georgia Institute of Technology, I acquired a solid understanding of the user-centered design process and learned to prototype with Balsamiq, Axure, and HTML/CSS. Class projects focused on user research, usability testing, converting user needs into system requirements, and prototyping systems with varying degrees of fidelity. I had the opportunity to TA a MOOC (massive open online course) with over 30,000 enrolled students, and I created many of the student and teacher educational materials for EarSketch - a project that teaches programming through remixing music. For my master's project, I implemented many of the UX skills I had acquired at Georgia Tech to develop best practices for MOOC interface design.

After grad school, I worked for Epic Systems as a Business Intelligence Developer. I designed and created reports and interfaces that allow clinicians to easily view, synthesize, and analyze medical data to help prevent patient infections. I was heavily involved in Epic's usability testing and usability test guide reviews, and I was part of the usability coordinator team for the two big customer conferences Epic hosts each year.
From Epic, I went to work for Boeing as a User Experience Specialist, where my work focused on user research, design, and usability testing for internal websites and applications. I worked on a variety of projects across the enterprise. I also led customer engagement meetings and created UX strategy proposals for new customers. I currently work as a User Experience Designer at The Home Depot, where I work closely with developers and PMs in an agile environment. I conduct user research, sketch designs, and create interactive prototypes for internal supply chain applications.

The Other Stuff
I love music. I play guitar, piano, and violin (not simultaneously), and some might call me a concert junkie.
Soccer is my sport of choice. I've played it for as long as I can remember. I'm also an occasional runner and cyclist.
I was born and raised in Texas. I lived there for 25 years. I can't eliminate the word "y'all" from my vocabulary.
I have both academic and professional experience in user research and usability testing, and I am meticulous and purposeful with my designs. But don't take my word for it. Click around. There's lots to see.
